Recreating Illustrator's Work

Fabia Bercsek's "Woman with Lions" illustration
Today at college we recreated illustrator's work. I chose to recreate Fabia Bercsek's "Woman Crying". The media I used was spray paint, felt tip, ink and fine liner. It was hard to replicate the pattern she had created with the spray paint but apart from that it went well. In the original image the spray paint is black but I used green because it was all I had to hand. I'm happy with the end result. I really love the fine pen lines that drape across the face, they project the feeling of sadness and tears. The effect Bercsek used on the eyes creates a haunted look which I think is what attracted me to the illustration in the first place. I like how Bercsek has used a technique that suggests there is hair and I think I have done a good job recreating it.

My reacreation of Fabia Bercsek' "Woman Crying" illustration
Fabia Bercsek is a fashion designer as well as a illustrator. Her preferred method of drawing is freehand and like to uses a variety of media e.g crayon, collage, computer. She describes her work as "intense, truthful, harmonious and decorative". I think her illustrations are intense and beautiful and full of meaning. The two illutrastion I have seen so far look quite dark and haunting.

My reacreation of Stina Persson's "60 s'" illustration
I also chose to recreate another illustration by Stina Persson. This one was a lot simplier and easier to do. For this one I used  ink and coloured pencils. It was quite quick to do because there was less detail to draw. Again I am happy with the illustration. I wanted to develop this drawing further, so I eperimented with diferent media to the see the different effects. I will upload pictures of this at a later date but at the moment my computer won't let me.

I like Stina Persson's illustrations because I love the effects she creates with the inks espeacially on the ilustration below. My favourite way to draw is with sticks dipped in ink and Stina Persson uses the same technique.
