Rather then using the traditional methods of illustrating, Grace Ciao, uses colourful flower petals to create her dresses on paper. Each petal is careful placed to create fitted bodices and flowing skirts. The texture of the petals make it look like real fabric and gives a 3D effect. This used with simple line drawn figures is really effective.
“They help me create prints which I otherwise couldn’t have thought of,” she explains. “I think petals work really well for illustration also because their delicacy and exquisiteness mimic those of a soft fabric.”
